ABOUT TAKCO MFG.
Takco has over 40 years of experience in custom machining and fabricating
In 1977, with a lathe and a Bridgeport milling machine in a garage in Phillips, WI, Takco Manufacturing was born. Initially a supplier to Leo Heikkinen, inventor of the Knuckle-Boom log loader and founder of Prentice Hydraulics, Takco appeared in the right place and time to serve emerging industries. Phillips was becoming a manufacturing center in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Marquip Corporation had become a major leader in the paper converting and corrugated packaging industry, Georgia Pacific operated a hardboard building materials plant in the area, and Bob Cervenka had grown Phillips Plastics into a large plastic molding business. In addition, Industrial Air Products, an industrial fan manufacturer, and Phillips Plating operated plants in town.
Supplying these growing businesses required more than just machining. Customers wanted completed parts often combining fabrication, machining, and painting. Takco was soon producing complete components and assemblies that were ready for installation. After purchasing 3 acres adjacent to Price County International Airport and near the large and growing Marquip, Takco built a 6,000 square foot facility and moved in 1984. Subsequent additions allowing space for fabrication and welding, material inventory, a sawing department, and a separate painting department increased the facility to over 22,000 square feet. By 1996, Takco had added a slate of diverse customers in numerous industries, including forestry, mining, paper converting, construction, road paving, conveyors, material handling, custom machinery, service and repair parts.
In 1997, privately-held TBC Wisconsin Inc. acquired Takco MFG with the objective of building on the base business and integrating professional management with the existing entrepreneurial culture. Over the last 40 years, Takco has grown from a regional provider to a certified supplier for multinational companies shipping all over the world.
Takco Manufacturing is now positioned to undertake measured expansion with strategic, long-term, supplier-customer relationships.
